58 representatives of European and West African countries gather in Rome

The IV Euro-African Ministerial Conference on Migration and Development within Rabat Process’ framework is held on 27 November in Rome and chaired by the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni and the Italian Minister of Interior Angelino Alfano. The honorary chairmanship is held by Senegal (which hosted, in 2011, the last edition of the Ministerial Meeting in Dakar).

The Conference is attended by 58 representatives of European and West, Central and Mediterranean African countries, of the European Commission and the Ecowas.

Cooperation on migration is at the centre of the discussion. More specifically, the link between migration and development and the cooperation on the fight against crimes related to irregular immigration (first of all trafficking of human beings and migrants) will be addressed. Legal migration and international protection will also be tackled.
