EU values must be respected in Hungary and in all other member states, MEPs say

Concerns about perceived threats to democracy, the rule of law and fundamental rights in Hungary will be raised in a debate with the Council representative and Commissioner Martine Reicherts i on Tuesday at around 21.00.

In July 2013, the European Parliament urged that member states’ compliance with EU fundamental values should be regularly assessed, but also stressed the need to avoid double standards in the treatment of EU countries.
