European Council on 23/24 October in Brussels

Climate and energy and the economic situation in the EU to be discussed by the Heads of State and Government.

A European Council meeting, chaired by the President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, is held on Thursday 23 and Friday 24 October in Brussels.

The European Council will take a final decision on the new climate and energy policy framework, including on further measures aimed at enhancing Europe's energy security and on specific 2030 interconnection objectives. The European Council will also address the economic situation in the European Union on the basis of a presentation by the Commission and work undertaken by the Council. The European Council may also address specific external relations issues in the light of developments on the international scene.
