EU declines to criticise Chinese police in Hong Kong

An EU foreign service spokeswoman Monday declined to criticise Chinese police' use of tear gas against peaceful demonstrators in Hong Kong. She said the Union is "closely following developments". She noted that an EU arms embargo on China dating back to Tiananmen Square 25 years ago is still in force.
