Scotland's referendum: statement by Michel Lebrun, President of the European Committee of the Regions
The European Committee of the Regions does not take any position on the internal arrangements of Member States but I would like to congratulate voters in Scotland for the manner in which the debate and vote has been conducted and for the extremely high level of participation.
In Europe the Committee of the Regions represents the voice of sub-national levels of government and thus the Scottish Parliament is represented in the European Committee of the Regions and have actively participated in our work. With today's decision by Scottish voters, the Committee will continue to be one of the bodies representing them in Europe, and I look forward to continue working with their representatives for a Europe which is responsive to the views emanating from all levels of government.
