DEN HAAG (PDC i) - Ahead of the NATO-summit in Wales, Jonathan Holslag writes about the dependence of Europe on American defence. It is not the future of Ukraine that counts in Wales, but the future of the transatlantic partnership. 

Due to the lack of an ambitious security policy, Europe fails to be a credible partner to the US. Holslag argues that European states should strive for a more equal partnership, with a greater European responsibility.
