Madrid green-lights disputed oil drilling off Canary Islands

The Spanish government has given Repsol final permission to drill for oil off the Canary Islands despite swelling environmental protests across the islands. The test drilling will be approximately 60 kilometers from Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, but both islands have refused to host the logistics centre for the operations.
