Europe Lecture speaker Vīķe-Freiberga at forefront of global efforts to promote democracy

DEN HAAG (PDC i) - Europe Lecture speaker Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga is actively involved in global political affairs through various organisations. In her function as president of the World Leadership Alliance - Club of Madrid, Vike-Freiberga is positioned at the forefront of global efforts to foster democratic developments and international stability.

The World Leadership Alliance - Club de Madrid is the world's largest, independent forum of democratic, political leaders, committed to assist countries in strengthening democracy.

Most recently, the Club de Madrid organized a workshop in the framework of the EU-funded project "Promotion of dialogue for democratic reform in Haiti", designed to discuss concrete options for addressing the country's transition challenges. Successful experiences on political dialogue of South Africa, Peru, Spain and Poland were shared with Hatian interlocutors and international stakeholders.

By advancing such initiatives, Vīķe-Freiberga seeks to contribute to the promotion of democracy and stability around the world.
