The winner of the call “My Europe is…”is a stylised swallow in the colours of Europe
The six-month Italian presidency of the Council of the European Union is a stylised swallow in the colours of Europe and Italy. According to the students of the Liceo Artistico Design e Tecnico Grafico ISIS-IPSIA "Giuseppe Meroni" of Lissone, province of Monza, the logo symbolises travelling, hope and freedom.
The winners of “My Europe is…” call - which was organised to choose the official six-month presidency logo - decided to keep only the three most important features: the upward beak symbolising the will to aim to the best; the wings representing direction and protection; and the tail, the distinguishing element of a swallow, representing diversity as conveyed by the motto of the European Union “United in diversity”.
