Turkey's president says he will not run for second term

Turkey's president Abdullah Gul confirmed on Sunday that he will not run for a second term in the August elections, paving the way for prime minister Erdogan to scoop the post and become the first directly elected Turkish president. Previously, the president has been chosen by parliament.
