EESC calls for a rapid deployment of the EU Solidarity Fund in Bosnia-and-Herzegovina, Serbia and Croatia
The EESC is saddened to hear of the devastating floods which killed at least 49 persons and have caused widespread damages in large parts of Bosnia-and-Herzegovina, Serbia and Croatia. More than 85,000 people have been evacuated and more than 500,000 are affected in those countries.
As voice of civil society in Europe, the EESC wants to express its sincere condolences to the families of the victims hit by this terrible natural disaster.
The EESC expresses its satisfaction that the EU and its Member States are working closely with the national authorities, supporting coordination and assessment efforts and providing aid and emergency supplies.
However, the EESC calls for a rapid deployment of the EU Solidarity Fund, to provide relief to the citizens affected by this natural disaster in the three countries and help reconstruction.
