French president wants less remote EU

French President Francois Hollande i on Monday said the EU has become "remote and incomprehensible", reports the BBC. "Europe has to be simple, clear, to be effective where it is needed and to withdraw from where it is not necessary," he said. Hollande's governing Socialist party placed third in the elections.
