Important changes in Portuguese national delegation Committee of the Regions
Following the local elections held on 29 September 2013 in Portugal, there have been a number of new nominations to the Portuguese national delegation in the Committee of the Regions (CoR). Eight new members and seven new alternates were appointed by the Council on 28 January 2014.
Among the new full members, Mr António Gonçalves BRAGANÇA FERNANDES (Presidente da Câmara Municipal da Maia, Portugal), Mr José Agostinho RIBAU ESTEVES (Presidente da Câmara Municipal de Aveiro, Portugal), Mr Álvaro DOS SANTOS AMARO (Presidente da Câmara Municipal da Guarda, Portugal) and Mr Luís Filipe SOROMENHO GOMES (Presidente da Câmara Municipal de Vila Real de Santo António, Portugal) will belong to the EPP group. Part of the PES group will be Mr José Maria DA CUNHA COSTA (Presidente da Câmara Municipal de Viana do Castelo, Portugal), Mr Basílio Adolfo DE MENDONÇA HORTA DA FRANCA (Presidente da Câmara Municipal de Sintra, Portugal) and Mr João Nuno FERREIRA GONÇALVES DE AZEVEDO (Presidente da Câmara Municipal de Mangualde, Portugal).
The new alternate members in the EPP group will be Mr António BENJAMIM PEREIRA (Presidente da Câmara Municipal de Esposende, Portugal), Mr Paulo Jorge FRAZÃO BATISTA SANTOS (Presidente da Câmara Municipal da Batalha, Portugal) and Mr Francisco Manuel LOPES (Presidente da Câmara Municipal de Lamego, Portugal). The PES group will have Mr Luís Miguel CORREIA ANTUNES (Presidente da Câmara Municipal da Lousã, Portugal), Mr Luís Manuel DOS SANTOS CORREIA (Presidente da Câmara Municipal de Castelo Branco, Portugal) and Mr Vitor Manuel MARTINS GUERREIRO (Presidente da Câmara Municipal de São Brás de Alportel, Portugal) as new alternate members.
