This year's laureates come from 12 countries: Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Finland, Germany, Luxembourg, Romania, Slovenia and Spain.

This prize aims at putting the spotlight on the creative and diverse wealth of Europe’s contemporary literature, promoting greater circulation of literature within Europe and interest in non-national literary works.
