Litouws voorzitterschap wil belang Europese begroting benadrukken voordat het EP stemt (en)
On 18-21 November, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Vytautas Leškevičius will participate in the debate at the European Parliament plenary session regarding the Multiannual Financial Framework 2014-2020 followed by voting of the European Parliament on its approval. The approval of the multiannual EU budget is one of the most important priorities of the Lithuanian Presidency. With approval of this budget, programs funded from the budget will be launched on time, at the beginning of 2014.
Vice Minister of Finance Algimantas Rimkūnas will participate in the debate and voting at European Parliament plenary session on the EU budget for 2014. In addition, MEPs will vote on EU draft amending budgets for 2013. Regarding these issues, the EU Council and the European Parliament have already reached a political agreement at the Conciliation Committee on November 11.
The Minister of Defence Juozas Olekas will speak on behalf of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton i. The Minister will address the European Parliament in the debate on the European defence, where implementation of the Common Security and Defence Policy, and issues relating to the European defence industrial and technological base will be discussed.
The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Vytautas Leškevičius at the plenary session will also speak on behalf of the EU Council in the debate on Cohesion Policy, Regional Development, and Social Funds. V. Leškevičius will present the EU Council position on Horizon 2020, the framework programme for research and innovation, will give a speech on the Common Agricultural Policy, and also discuss with MEPs financing, management and monitoring of the CAP, as well as issues of the general organization of agriculture product markets.
