Discussie over de samenwerking tussen de Europese regio's zullen in Druskininkai worden gehouden (en)

The 5th Interregional Cooperation Programming Committee for the period of the year 2014-2020 and INTERREG IVC Programme Monitoring Committee of the year 2007-2013 meetings will take place in Druskininkai on the 24-26 of September.

The Interregional cooperation INTERREG IVC programme is one of the biggest cooperation programmes involving all (currently 28) European Union countries, Switzerland and Norway. This programme provides funding for interregional cooperation development between European regions across Europe. The overall objective of the INTERREG IVC programme is to improve the effectiveness of regional policies and instruments.

It is planned to discuss major issues of the new interregional cooperation programme during a 3-day meeting in Lithuania, including the content of the new programme, supported priority areas (Development and innovation of research and technologies; Strengthening of SME competitiveness; Reduction the pollution of sectoral economics; Environmental protection and sustainable use of environmental resources) and their funding mechanism as well as the role of national authorities and other issues.

Lithuania is chairing the programming committee of the new period interregional cooperation and the INTERREG IVC programme monitoring committee meetings in Lithuania during the period of the Presidency of the EU Council. The chairman Gediminas Česonis (Head of Regional Policy Strategic Coordination Department) and other Lithuanian delegation members: Deimantė Jankūnaitė (Head of Territorial Cooperation Programmes Department) and Diana Zalieckė (Chief specialist of Territorial Cooperation Programmes Department) represent the Ministry of the Interior. The Ministry of the Interior is designated to coordinate the implementation of the European territorial cooperation programmes in Lithuania. It is expected that the process of the creation of the new interregional cooperation programme would move ahead rapidly.

The INTERREG IVC Programme Monitoring Committee will discuss practical issues concerning the implementation of the existing programmes, such as the use of technical assistance budget and the payment of national contributions as well as audit affairs.
