Europese conferentie over neutraliseren explosieven (en)
On 23-24 September 2013, European Explosive Ordnance Disposal Network (hereinafter EEODN) Conference will be organized in Vilnius by Europol, CEPOL and Lithuanian police.
In the course of this event EU experts on neutralizing explosives will exchange the up-to-date information on the biggest terrorism threats of nowadays - using explosives and dangerous substances in criminal acts. The participants will discuss effective preventive measures in fighting terrorism and exchange the best worldwide experience in eliminating possible threats. The main attention will be paid to the issue of neutralizing “dirty bombs” - improvised explosive devices used to spread radiological and chemical substances, as well as the question of legalizing the process of collecting explosives.
Immediately after the Conference officers from the Lithuanian Police Anti-terrorist Operations Unit ARAS together with their foreign colleagues will try the newest equipment and ways of detecting and neutralizing explosives, as well as “booby traps” (explosives which are used as traps against law enforcement officers in order to hinder them from performing combat operations).
EEODN, which was established in 2008, seeks to unite different police departments of the EU fighting the dangers of explosives, chemical, biological and radioactive substances.
