On 5 September in Vilnius, the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius met with the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton i. The officials discussed the agenda of the informal meeting of Ministers for Foreign Affairs (Gymnich), which starts in the capital of Lithuania tomorrow, and key foreign policy issues.
The meeting highlighted the significance of the European Neighbourhood Policy. The officials agreed to further coordinate the cooperation in this area between the European External Action Service, headed by the EU’s High Representative, and Lithuania. The EU’s High Representative C.Ashton also hailed Lithuania’s smooth Presidency of the EU Council.
