Schulz geschokt na treinongeluk in Santiago de Compostella (en)

Commenting on the deadly train accident which took place yesterday, 24 July, near Santiago de Compostela in Spain, the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz i stated:

"I am deeply saddened to learn of the train accident in Santiago de Compostela which took the lives of so many people.

On behalf of the European Parliament, I extend our most sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims, as well as to the Spanish authorities. We wish a full and speedy recovery to the injured. My sympathy also goes to the city of Santiago on a special day for the whole of Galicia.

Our gratitude goes to the many rescue workers and volunteers whose tireless effort has helped save so many lives."
