President Litouwen ontmoet eurocommissaris Barnier
On Tuesday, July 23, at 8:00 a.m., President Dalia Grybauskaitė i will meet with the European Commissioner for Internal Market and Services, Michel Barnier i. The meeting will focus on the key tasks of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union aimed at strengthening the EU single market.
The meeting will also feature Lithuania's tasks in building a banking union. Lithuania will seek progress in considering proposals on bank recovery and resolution, as well as on setting up the deposit guarantee schemes and a single resolution mechanism for banks.
The President and the Commissioner will discuss issues relating to the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU). Strengthening the EMU will contribute to better coordination of economic reforms carried out in the member states.
Among the other issues discussed at the meeting will be measures designed to improve the functioning of the internal market. The discussion will include the strengthening of the services market and more effective implementation of the Services Directive.
