Tentoonstelling over Litouwen in Brussel (en)
The start of Lithuania‘s presidency in Brussels will be marked by the exhibition “Lithuania in the Mail Parcel“. On dispay July 1-7 at NATO headquarters and July 10 through August 20 at European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels, the exhibition presents Lithuania’s natural and cultural heritage inscribed into UNESCO international lists or inventories.
The creative team of the exhibition leader, art historian dr. Giedrė Jankevičiūtė will present the concept of the exhibition at the opening at the European Economic and Social Committee on July 10, 6:30 pm.
The exhibition is created on the principle of a traveling curiosity rooms, often called Wunderkammer, which emerged in Europe during the Renaissance and became the prototypes of contemporary museums.
10 wooden containers display Lithuania’s heritage in an innovative and attractive way. The Old Town of Vilnius is represented via pop-up image, 3D hologram shows an object of cross-crafting, audio information allows to understand the structure of Lithuanian multipart songs sutartinės. The characteristic natural samples of Žuvintas Biosphere Reserve reflect the first nature reserve of Lithuania. The items depicting the Baltic Way - the Human Chain linking three Baltic States in their drive for Freedom, and documents of Radzwill’s Archives and Niasvizh Library Collection represent National Memory of the World Register.
The exhibition will be also exhibited at the European Parliament Chamber in Brussels December 2-6th.
