Statement by EU High Representative Catherine Ashton i following the meeting in the framework of the EU-facilitated dialogue
The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission issued the following statement today:
"I met Prime Minister Dacic and Prime Minister Thagi in Brussels yesterday to discuss progress in the implementation of the agreement for normalisation of relations between the two sides that we reached in April.
We reviewed the work done by the working parties over several weeks on all the main elements of the Implementation Plan for the April Agreement. Good work has been done and concrete progress has been achieved.
The Prime Ministers yesterday went further and agreed a number of open issues, in particular in the field of justice, police and upcoming municipal elections.
With a view to the meeting of the Council and the European Council next week, I will now inform the Member States about the progress in the implementation of the April Agreement, confirming that concrete steps towards a visible and sustainable improvement of relations between the two sides were taken.
I want to pay tribute to Prime Minister Thaci, Prime Minister Dacic and their teams for their dedication and hard work and I am looking forward to further progress in the process of normalisation of relations, in line with the April Agreement and its Implementation Plan."
