Portugese president benadrukt belang van solidariteit in toespraak in EP (en)

The Portuguese President, Aníbal Cavaco Silva, spoke of the absence of growth and the severe economic and social consequences of the crisis in Portugal and in the whole of the European Union during his formal address to Parliament at noon on Wednesday.

President Cavaco Silva called for genuine solidarity in the European Union: "This is the moment for Europe to show to its citizens, through tangible achievements, that this is the place of hope which gives meaning to the legacy we have received and to the future we are all called on to build."
