4 Conferences - 4 Weeks - 1 Country - 2,500 Attendees

2,500 attendees will visit Dublin and Cork as part of the official calendar of events for Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Enterprise Ireland will host four major conferences over a four week period aimed at driving innovation and competitiveness in Ireland and Europe.

These conferences will see just over 2,500 delegates from over 50 countries arrive in Dublin and Cork. As well as focusing on the key drivers of growth for all economies - Innovation and Competitiveness - this large gathering of international attendees will also bring significant benefits to the Irish economy as a large number of the delegates are likely to extend their stay in Ireland for a couple of days.

The four conferences are:

  5-7 June: Week of Innovative Regions in Europe (WIRE) 2013 (University College Cork)

  10-12 June: EuroSME Conference (Dublin Castle)
• - 

  18-20 June: EuroNanoForum 2013 (Convention Centre Dublin)

The theme of Ireland’s Presidency is “Stability, Jobs and Growth”. Many of the objectives which the Government is pursuing under the Action Plan for Jobs mirror the objectives at EU level, including supporting SMEs, Research and Development, and boosting Competitiveness. The four conferences will address these key areas in depth.

Editors Notes

The first of the four conferences is the Driving Competitiveness Workshop, taking place in Dublin Castle on 29 May. This event will explore how both SMEs and MNCs can become more competitive in their respective fields.

The Week of Innovative Regions in Europe (WIRE 2013) conference is taking place in University College Cork from 5-7 June. This conference will look at research and innovation in regional areas and discuss regional prospects for the upcoming research and innovation funding Horizon 2020.

Dublin Castle will play host to EuroSME 2013 from 10-12 June. This conference will focus on EU support for SME’s and SME access to European Research funding (H2020).

The final and largest of the conferences, EuroNanoForum 2013 will be held in the Convention Centre Dublin from 18-20 June. This conference will explore European advancements in the nano-technology arena, focusing on the commercialisation of nanotechnologies, taking them from enabling technologies to end products.
