Europese standaard voor clouddiensten in de maak (en)

The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) cloud standards mapping process is well underway. The standardisation experts met for the second time on 17 April in Brussels. A meeting organised jointly by ETSI and the European Commission looked at the results achieved so far and discussed the next steps.

The Cloud Standards Coordination (CSC) activities involve three task groups (TG). Task groups 1 and 2 have been looking at stakeholder roles and responsibilities including several use cases, which have now been finalised. It will be TG 3’s job, over the summer of 2013, to map the existing standards onto the chosen use cases. This task group will be looking at the standards related to service level agreements (SLAs), interoperability, and security and privacy.

The deadline for the CSC results is scheduled for the end of 2013, but the experts aim to deliver a draft of their report, which could already outline how different standards could meet the requirements identified in different use cases, in time for the European Cloud Partnership steering committee meeting in July.

The CSC Brussels meeting proved once again that there is still strong enthusiasm and high expectations of results for cloud standardisation. The results will be useful especially for public-sector actors and the aim is to widely discuss the outcome with chief information officers and IT-experts from the EU Member States.
