The next talks on the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) between Council, Commission and European Parliament will be held on Thursday, 24 April. The meeting follows the review of the CFP reform by the 27 Member States on Monday, in Luxembourg. The dates to implement the discard ban are the main point of disagreement between Council and Parliament, but the Irish Presidency believes a deal can be reached.
European Affairs journalist, Peter O’Donnell is joined by Tom Hanney, Irish Ambassador to the EU, to discuss the Common Fisheries Policy.
“The Council’s position on how to move towards the discard ban and how it would be implemented is less ambitious and more pragmatic than that of Parliament.”
