The European Ombudsman is investigating whether the European Commission was wrong to appoint a tobacco lobbyist, Michel Petite, to its lobbying-ethics board. "[Appointing] a ... lobbyist for one of the deadliest and most unethical industries on the planet to an ethics panel is reckless," Corporate Accountability International, an NGO, said.
