Statement by High Representative Catherine Ashton after her meeting with Serbian leaders in the context of

the EU-facilitated dialogue

Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, issued the following statement today:

"I met President Nikolic, Prime Minister Dacic and Deputy Prime Minister Vucic in the context of the EU-facilitated dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina today. We had an open and substantial discussion.

We reviewed progress in the dialogue so far. We spoke in particular about the implementation of the agreements already reached and about the need to finalise discussions on the open issues, notably on northern Kosovo, in view of the next meeting of the dialogue for normalisation of relations on 20 March in Brussels.

In the meeting today I stressed the importance of reaching agreements on the open issues between the two sides as soon as possible. In line with the December 2012 Council Conclusions, I will report to the Council on the agreements reached and the work underway to implement them in April."
