Voorzitter EESC Staffan Nilsson bij International Green Week 2013 Berlijn (en)
President Staffan Nilsson is participating in the International Green Week 2013 in Berlin on 17-19 January 2013.
The International Green Week in Berlin is the world's biggest fair for food, agriculture and horticulture. Staffan Nilsson will be meeting ministers of agriculture from all over Europe and the world, and will take part in the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) 2013. This year the International GFFA Panel will be dedicated to "Responsible investment in the food and agriculture sectors". President Nilsson will have the opportunity to visit "FriedensBrot" project and make a contribution to the realisation of a documentary about peace and sustainable agriculture. This project paves the way for a big European event in 2014 to celebrate the fall of the Berlin Wall 25 years ago. As there will be numerous debates on the reform of the EU's common agricultural policy (CAP), president Nilsson will contribute to the conference "Young Farming - CAP towards 2020" and will meet The European Council of Young Farmers (CEJA) and The Federation of Swedish Farmers (LRF).

The Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought 2012 goes to Iranians Nasrin Sotoudeh, an imprisoned human rights defender and lawyer, and Jafar Panahi, a film director who with his work called attention to the hardships suffered by Iran's poor. EP president Martin Schulz made the announcement in plenary on Friday 26 October.
