Iers voorzitterschap bespreekt programma met Barroso en EC (en)

Met dank overgenomen van Iers voorzitterschap Europese Unie eerste helft 2013 i, gepubliceerd op donderdag 10 januari 2013.

The European Commission College meets today in Dublin with the Irish Government to discuss working together on the Presidency’s priorities for Stability, Jobs and Growth.

Today’s visit will provide the Taoiseach, Tánaiste and all Irish Ministers who are chairing Councils with an opportunity for in-depth discussions with Commission counterparts. They will outline how Ireland plans to advance its Presidency priorities to promote stability and to stimulate jobs and growth over the coming six months.

The visit will open with a meeting between Irish Government Ministers and their Commission counterparts. At the meeting, Ministers will present priorities across the nine Councils that they chair and discuss how the Irish Presidency will work to make progress on objectives including advancing the Single Market and the Digital Agenda to create smart and sustainable growth and job creation.

This meeting will be followed by a short tête-à-tête meeting between the Taoiseach and José Manuel Barroso i, President of the European Commission.

Ministers and Commissioners will then meet in smaller thematic groups to discuss specific policy elements of the programme in greater detail in areas including CAP reform, external trade and enlargement.

Following a press conference and a working lunch, the Taoiseach, Tánaiste and President Barroso will open the European Year of Citizens with a citizens’ dialogue.
