Griekenland sluit Europees Jaar van het actief ouder worden (en)

The Greek Closing event for the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012 took place on 7 December at the amphitheatre of the Benaki Museum in Athens.

120 participants attended the event, which was launched with opening speeches by Panagiotopoulos Nikos, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security; Dallaporta Anna, General Secretary of Management of European Funds, and Zahilas Loukas, representative of CEDEFOP.

The National Coordinator of the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, Rouskas Odisseas, together with the Head of sector "Communication/ Partnerships & Networks” of the European Commission Representation in Greece, Peroulakis Aris, and the Head of the European Parliament Office in Athens, Antonakopoulos Leonidas, then went on to present some of the initiatives and activities organised in the framework of the EY2012.

In the second part of the event, Professor Meimaris Michalis, from the University of Athens, presented 3 selected life story videos that were created during the Seniorforce Day event in October by teams of young students and senior citizens. Mr Meimaris spoke about the importance of intergenerational dialogue and cooperation, while sharing the energy that was generated during the Seniorforce Day in Greece.

At the end of the closing ceremony, the Greek national winners of the European Year 2012 Awards were honoured by different stakeholders, while each had the chance to present their initiative.

The event concluded with the moving and inspiring short film “Fatherly Love”, which was introduced by its director, Constantin Pilavios.
