Comité van de Regio's leeft mee met nabestaanden en slachtoffers van overstromingen in Spanje (en)

Met dank overgenomen van Comité van de Regio's (CvdR) i, gepubliceerd op vrijdag 12 oktober 2012.

The Committee of the Regions would like to offer its condolences to the families of the victims caused by a torrential nature of rainfall and flash floods in Spain on 28 September.

We would like to express our sincere solidarity with the regions that have suffered particularly from this tragedy, notably Andalucía, Valencia, Murcia and the city of Lorca that also suffered from an earthquake one year ago.

The Committee of the Regions Political Groups recall that natural disasters, such as floods, represent a growing threat to human life and have a powerful impact on the balanced development of the regions, threaten their natural and cultural heritage and undermine the economic activity and quality of life of the inhabitants of the regions concerned.

The best tribute the European Union could pay to the victim’s memory would be to improve the disaster prevention on the principles of solidarity and cooperation.
