The project European Health Literacy Survey (HLS-EU) ended earlier this year with the publication of the "COMPARATIVE REPORT ON HEALTH LITERACY IN EIGHT EU MEMBER STATES".
The HLS-EU project helped mapping the issue of health literacy (HL) in Europe. The project developed instruments for measuring HL in Europe and documented the ways HL is operationalised in various national contexts. It also looked at HL in some European regions and cultures and discussed its overall social and political impact.
HLS-EU has been designed in concordance with the standard Euro-barometer methodology in order to facilitate the adoption of HLS-EU as part of regular European health reporting.
