Nieuw lid uit Verenigd Koninkrijk benoemd bij Eurojust (en)

Met dank overgenomen van Europees orgaan voor de justitiële samenwerking (Eurojust) i, gepubliceerd op donderdag 12 juli 2012.

On 01 July 2012, Ms Frances Kennah was appointed National Member for the UK at Eurojust i. In accordance with Article 2(1) of the Eurojust Decision, the appointment was approved by the Secretary General of the Council of the European Union.

Ms Kennah replaces the former National Member for the UK, Mr Aled Williams, who has retired.

Ms Kennah is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. She began her government career as a prosecutor at the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in 1991. Since then she has held posts as a special casework prosecutor and Unit Head with HM Customs and Excise, an HM Inspector of the CPS and a legal adviser to HM Revenue and Customs.

Ms Kennah’s most recent post (2007-2011) was as Head of the UK Central Authority in the Home Office which she comprehensively restructured to improve performance.

Ms Kennah is very well acquainted with the work of Eurojust, having attended coordination meetings on her cases and represented the UK at various strategic seminars. Ms Kennah was the UK National Correspondent to the European Judicial Network between 2007-2010 and is looking forward to contributing to work aimed at further strengthening the links between Eurojust and the EJN i.

Ms Kennah described her new posting to Eurojust as: “A continuation of my strongly-held belief that international judicial cooperation is the way forward. As National Member to Eurojust, I am determined to contribute to the development of the organisation, promoting the added value on offer not only to Member States, but also to third States.”
