Nieuw lid Hongarije benoemd voor Europees orgaan voor justitiële samenwerking (en)

On 01 July 2012, Mr László Venczl was appointed National Member for Hungary at Eurojust. In accordance with Article 2(1) of the Eurojust Decision, the appointment was approved by the Secretary General of the Council of the European Union.

Ms Ilona Lévai, the former National Member for Hungary, continues her successful career at Eurojust as Seconded National Expert for Hungary.

Mr Venczl has been a prosecutor for more than twenty years in different posts within the prosecution service in Hungary. He spent most of his professional career in the Military Prosecution Service until it was absorbed into the Hungarian Prosecution Service in 2011.

During his international career, Mr Venczl has played an active role in the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) since its formation. He is currently a Senator. In addition, Mr Venczl has been the Contact Point for the Genocide Network since 2003, and will remain so for the time being.

Mr Venczl said the following about his posting to Eurojust: “I hope that Hungary and the Hungarian front-line prosecutors will have more extensive experiences in judicial cooperation with the other Member States. I trust that the tools of cooperation will become part of their everyday practice. I believe that Eurojust and the Hungarian Desk can have a considerable impact on increasing such willingness to reach our common goals within the European Union.
