Cypriotische ministers presenteren prioriteiten voor Europa (en)

Starting today, Monday July 2, and over the course of the next two weeks, ten Cyprus government ministers and the Deputy Minister for European Affairs will present the Presidency priorities at the various committees of the European Parliament. As is the case when a member state assumes the rotating EU Presidency, the ministers will outline the priorities in their related fields and will be on hand to answer questions from MEPs.

A total of 10 Cyprus government ministers will appear before 17 different European Parliament committees to present the priorities of their ministries on July 2, 9, 10, 11, and 12. The Ministers and Mr. Andreas D. Mavroyiannis, the Deputy Minister for European Affairs, will have the opportunity to provide details of the Cyprus Presidency priorities in their related fields.

Starting today, the Minister of Finance, Mr. Vassos Shiarly, will present and discuss the priorities of the Cyprus Presidency when it comes to issues of economic governance as well as its commitment to actively work for strengthening the regulation and supervision of the financial sector in the Committee for Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON).

Following the presentation of the Cyprus Presidency’s main priorities by President Mr. DemetrisChristofias i on Wednesday July 4, 2012 at the European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg, the other committees will convene the week starting July 9.

The final presentation will take place on Thursday July 12, where Minister of Health Dr. Stavros Malas will go before the Committee of Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) to debate research issues.

In addition, Deputy Minister Mr. Andreas D. Mavroyiannis will address the European Economic and Social Committee on July 11 and the Committee of the Regions on July 18.
