Heinz K. Becker, Member of the European Parliament, and Ingrid Turkovic-Wendl, Austrian Ambassador of the European Year 2012 and former ice figure skater, visited on June 11th the Maria Enzersdorf Sports High School in Vienna in the frame of the generations@school project.

Both special guests addressed students and senior citizens and engaged in a lively conversation on what it means to grow old, how to foster a better understanding between younger and older people and what can all generations do together to build a better future.

The day started with a formal opening and short guided tours around the school with senior citizens and students. Afterwards, they all together attended a Math and German class, which was followed by workshops on topics such as the differences between schools today and in the past and how the role and form of handwriting has changed over the years. MEP Heinz K. Becker exchanged views with the old and young participants and saw their sketches and presentations.
