EU-IGAD conferentie in Ethiopië over ontwikkelingen in Oost-Afrika (en)

As part of the Danish Presidency, the Danish Foreign Minister will be representing the EU High Representative Ashton at the EU-IGAD political dialogue which will take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on 3 April 2012.

On the 2-3 April 2012 the Danish Foreign Minister Villy Soevndal will visit Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, in order to carry out consultations with the Intergovernmental Authority on Development, IGAD, on behalf of the EU High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton i.

The consultations will cover regional issues such as Somalia and Sudan/South Sudan. IGAD was created in 1996 and constitutes one of the primary organizations for regional cooperation and development in Eastern Africa.

The Foreign Minister’s visit to Addis Ababa will include a meeting with Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi to discuss cooperation between the EU and IGAD as well as the political and economic development in the region.

The Foreign Minister will also meet with representatives from the African Union to discuss the ongoing cooperation between the EU and the African Union.
