EP-voorzitter Martin Schulz blij met uitkomst stemming over PVV-meldpunt in Europarlement (en)

Met dank overgenomen van Voorzitter Europees Parlement (EP-voorzitter) i, gepubliceerd op donderdag 15 maart 2012.

The President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz i made the following statement after the adoption of the resolution on discriminatory internet sites and government reactions by an overwhelming majority of Members of the European Parliament today in Strasbourg.

"I welcome the adoption of the resolution on discriminatory internet sites and government reactions by a broad majority in this House. It is the task of the European Parliament to defend fundamental values of non-discrimination and freedom of movement. The European Parliament will defend these fundamental values and condemn such transgressions in the Member States.

I strongly condemn the website launched by the PVV, as it goes against the fundamental European values of human dignity, freedom, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights.

Such websites risk destroying the very basis of the Union, which is pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and freedom of movement."
