EU organiseert trainingen voor docenten uit oostelijke buurlanden (en)
The EU's Eastern Partnership is dedicated to "contacts between people" and covers a wide range of issues including education and training. The education and training of primary and secondary school teachers is of great interest to the partnership countries.
Therefore, DG Education and Culture commissioned a study earlier this year which provided a regional and comparative mapping of teacher education and training systems in the six Eastern Partnership countries.
The study recommended increased standardisation for qualification requirements for teachers, a renewed focus on teacher training and modernised teaching methods with the ultimate goal of closer integration with the EU in this area.
These results were presented and discussed at a seminar held in Baku, Azerbaijan, on 13-14 October, attended by 72 stakeholders including representatives from Ministries of Education and teacher training institutions.
The seminar provided an opportunity to exchange information on policy developments in the EU and Eastern Partnership countries, it highlighted examples of good practice in the six countries and provided an insight into the transition experience of the Czech Republic as well as examples of support from EU funded Tempus i projects in reforming teacher education programmes.
