Statement by High Representative Catherine Ashton i on the earthquake in Turkey

Catherine Ashton, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the Commission, issued the following statement today:

"ƒ am saddened by the tragic news of the terrible earthquake that hit southeast Turkey.

I have already expressed my condolences to the Turkish authorities and offered to provide any

assistance they might need.

I express my sincere sympathy to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to those injured''
