On 7th October 2011, the second meeting of the Working Party of the Council on Financial Services was held. At the meeting, work continued on the CRD IV packet (directive and regulation).
The Polish Presidency continued work on the regulation of the European Parliament and Council on prudential supervision for credit institutions and investment firms.
During the meeting three successive parts of the draft were discussed: ‘Capital requirements’, ‘Large expositions’ and ‘Expositions connected with credit-risk transfer’. The discussion centred on the possibility of setting a higher than 8% value of the capital adequacy coefficient, the treatment of real-estate-safeguarded credit expositions, clients’ credit risk and large expositions.
The Presidency has carried out an extremely ambitious agenda, submitting more than 300 articles for discussion. Representatives of the European Commission participating in the work of the group also expressed their satisfaction at the amount of progress achieved.
The next meeting of the Working Party has been set for 21st October 2011.
