Europarlement verkiest Anni Podimata en Giles Chichester als ondervoorzitters (en)

Anni Podimata (S&D, EL) and Giles Chichester (ECR, UK) were elected today by acclamation as Vice-Presidents of the European Parliament to replace Stavros Lambrinidis, who has become foreign minister of Greece, and Silvana Koch-Mehrin, who resigned as Vice-President.

Mrs Podimata and Mr Chichester will be, respectively, the third and fourteenth vice-presidents and will take on the portfolios of their predecessors.

Parliament's 14 Vice-Presidents and its President, taken together, form the Bureau, the body that lays down rules for Parliament. It draws up Parliament’s preliminary draft budget and decides all administrative, staff and organisational matters.
