EU-China evenement ter gelegenheid van de Europese jeugdweek 2011 (en)
The 2nd flagship event of the EU-China Year of Youth held in Europe successfully took place in May, in the context of the European Youth Week.
A delegation composed of 120 Chinese representatives visited Europe at the occasion of the event and met the almost 200 European representatives who gathered for the European Youth Week activities.
The Chinese delegates' programme started in Antwerp with a visit to the Port followed by a round-table under the theme: “Learn Local, Lead Global”, organised by the Euro-China Centre of Antwerp Management School, where they discussed the importance of international education, employment, entrepreneurship and leadership.
On the 19th of May, the Chinese delegates and young Europeans took part in the EU-China Forum on Youth Entrepreneurship. The Forum was opened by Androulla Vassiliou i, Member of the European Commission responsible for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, and by Lu Hao, First Secretary of the Chinese Communist Youth League and Chairman of the China Organizing Committee of the EU-China Year of Youth. The forum featured speakers from several youth and entrepreneurial networks who led discussions on entrepreneurial spirit, skills, practices and approaches to facilitate youth entrepreneurship.
At the same time, part of the delegation attended the EU-China Multilingualism conference.
The week concluded with the Chinese delegation travelling in groups to different Member States: Austria, Hungary, Malta, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, and the UK, where they participated in a variety of events hosted by each country before departing back to China.
