Zijn Bulgarije en Roemenië klaar om toe te treden tot Schengen? (en)

MEPs will debate whether Bulgaria and Romania are ready to join the border-free Schengen area on Tuesday at 5pm. Parliament’s will finalise its opinion with a vote on Wednesday, ahead of the Justice and Home Affairs Council meeting of 9-10 June at which the matter will be discussed.

Before taking a decision on whether to abolish border checks with these two countries, the Council of Ministers needs not only to receive Parliament's opinion but also to examine reports by experts who have been out to see whether they meet the Schengen requirements.
