The Hungarian Presidency bids farewell by its Summer Launch Festival organised on the banks of the River Danube from 24th to 26th June - Mónika Balatoni creative director of the organizer announced at a press conference held in Budapest.

The River Danube is the most suitable theme and venue for the closing programme of the Hungarian EU Presidency and the series of events so far made up of hundreds of cultural programmes and others accompanying them. The Hungarian Canoe Federation is preparing for the 3-day-long festival with a spectacular dragon boat race and procession; Kesha is coming to City Park (Városliget) to participate in the annual “Connection Concert” of T-Mobile; and the main building of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences is going to be transformed by a magnificent art light show accompanied by music - all these events demonstrate the diversity of Hungarian cultural programmes and that of the country. During the Danube-party, 15 bands, 9 tradition preserving groups, and 7 theatres will make the closing event unforgettable.

By means of these programmes, spreading out from Margaret Island to Kopaszi Dam and televised, among others, on Danube TV too, Budapest once more draws attention - due to the EU Presidency - to Hungary, to its colourful history, multicultural nation, and European identity. During its Summer Launch Festival, the Hungarian capital can show its exceptional hospitality, its love of traditions, and its lively and exciting side.
