On 9th of May in the framework of the Europe Day „The European Traditions - Spain - Hungary - 2011” Photo Exposition was inagurated in the venue of the European Institutions in Madrid with the participation of Francisco Fonseca, the Director of the Representation of the European Commission, Ignacio Samper, the Director of the Representation of the European Parliament, Diego López Garrido, Spanish State Secretary for the European Affairs and Edit Bucsi Szabó, Ambassador.
The photo exposition presents the Spanish and Hungarian folkloric traditions in a paralel way, it shows how they still survive in our present days, and gives a wonderful opportunity to these two nations to have a cultural encounter. The exposition calls our attention that the preserved traditions are important for both nations. These traditions continue in the 21st century, build into our common days, and through this make them rich.
The photos were selected from the photos of the competition „The European Traditions - Spain - Hungary - 2011” convocated by the National Federation of Hungarian Photographers, the Hungarian Institute for Culture and Lectorate for Fine Arts and the Hungarian Consulate General in Barcelona. The photos of the amateur photopraphers show 33 Spanish and 39 Hungarian folkloric traditions. The exposition can be visited at the venue of the European Institutions in Madrid, during May.
