Eerste vergadering Euronest in Europees Parlement als onderdeel van het Oostelijk Partnerschap (en)

Tomorrow, Tuesday 3 May, the President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek i will host the constituent meeting of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly in the European Parliament. Please see below the detailed programme.

Ahead the meeting EP President Buzek i said:

"After months of intensive preparations, Euronest, the landmark of the Eastern Partnership, becomes tangible reality. It is a forum of the people, by the people and for the people. It aims to bring together experiences, ideas, best practices and shared values, all in a democratic spirit.

By being closer to our neighbours we are stronger on the global stage. People of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine are close to our hearts. Our cooperation will strengthen stability and prosperity, bringing lasting and palpable benefits to citizens of all participating states. We parliamentarians are determined to contribute fully to the success of the Eastern Partnership. I want to express my gratitude particularly to our MEPs: Jacek Saryusz - Wolski, who was one of the initiators of the project and Kristian Vigenin, the Chairman of the EP Delegation to the Euronest PA for their continuous commitment and dedication.

Unfortunately, Euronest's inauguration will take place without the participation of Belarus. I hope that this is only a transitional state, not the ultimate solution. Parliamentarians of Belarus are welcome, but only if free elections will become a reality. We need to see the democratic process happening.

I am looking forward to Euronest delivering on the expectations. It should be a lively forum where people and ideas meet to find solutions to the problems of citizens."
