Succeswens van Barroso aan de premier van Finland (en)

President Barroso i has today sent the following message of congratulations to the new Prime Minister of Finland, Mrs Mari Kiviniemi:

"I would like to warmly congratulate you, on behalf of the European Commission and on a personal basis, as you take up your new duties as Prime Minister of the Republic of Finland.

I am looking forward to working with you to continue the tradition of excellent co-operation between the Finnish government and the European Commission as we tackle shared challenges such as economic recovery, energy security and climate change. Finland has always made an active and constructive contribution to delivering common European solutions to these sorts of challenges and I have no doubt that this will continue to be the case under your leadership.

I wish you every success in the challenging tasks which lie ahead of you and your government."
