Commission approves state funding to develop transport infrastructure in Hungary
The European Commission authorised today a State aid notified by the Hungarian authorities which will promote the development of transport in the rail, road and inland navigation sectors. The overall objective is to improve transport intermodality in Hungary.
The Hungarian aid scheme aims at extending, modernising, upgrading existing transport infrastructure and at strengthening its intermodality. The aid covers infrastructure connexions between the public rail and road network as well as the boundary of logistics centre, industrial parks, commercial airport or freight inland waterway ports. Furthermore, specific inland navigation infrastructures are also planned to be supported under the scheme. However, no aid may be provided for infrastructures implemented in the Central Hungary region (Közép-Magyarország).
The infrastructures concerned will belong to public authorities and will be open for all potential users. The total budget is HUF 16 900 million (€ 59,9 million) for the five-year period covered by the regime (2009-2013).
